You may not know this, but I’m a little bit of a Macklemore & Ryan Lewis fan. Me… and all their angsty teen followers fall into Macklemore’s coined twitter term #sharkfacegang. Before hearing their music (being too busy with Torynova Monster Masks at the time), I had conveniently created the Shark Attack mask, which I now sell in my etsy shop. So when their song, Thrift Shop became an online sensation, I got familiar with the duo and their entourage. Needless to say, the next obvious step was to create this…
Shark Face Mask
Inspired by Macklemore’s #SharkFaceGang
In a perfect world, I would be able to show this awesome mask to Macklemore and get it selling in his merch shop so all the #sharkfacegang fans can wear Shark Face to represent their favorite Seattle rapper. Till that happens, I will be rollin’ out these masks into the Etsy shop, so keep your eyes peeled in the coming weeks! And be sure to get your hands on a copy of The Heist.
! UPDATE ! | Shark Face Mask is now for sale!

I have a lot to be thankful for this year as it has been both impossibly difficult and remarkably fruitful. A large portion of my gratitude goes to the kindness of total strangers, who have transformed my world over the past 9 months, and the rest can be attributed to the strong shoulders of close family and sweet friends onto which I have leaned. Thank you all, my unnamed warriors.
At the start of 2012 I half jokingly claimed this to be my year – the year of the Dragon, and indeed it has been! It came with a thunderous reckoning! But it ain’t over till the fat lady delivers a heart-stopping vocal bravado (which will be me after the holidays *sob* goodbye waistline *sob*). And I have enough fight left to deliver some spectacular new projects in the next few weeks.
Honestly, I’m just glad to have power again. Hurricane Sandy left a total disaster zone and commuter hell. Storm Support is making an effort to give back to storm victims through great design! ALL profits from sales go to benefit various charities around the NYC/NJ area and will directly help those in need. My contribution is a cute lil’ french bulldog Storm Pup – go get him!
Most importantly, I hope that you are enjoying the best damn Thanksgiving meal of your life today (or at least, one worthy to be a close second).
Happy Holidays! Lets not lose our minds over Black Friday deals, mmkay?

Today was an interesting day! In an out of the ordinary turn of events, I got to make a little presentation for my coworkers as part of a Share/Inspire session series held in the design department, talking all about my love interest, Torynova Couture. I got to do a little vis-a-vis modeling as well for our show ‘n tell sesh’. Yes, my workplace is hilarious and awesome (yay! Dumbo, Brooklyn).
For those who don’t know, TNC is an apparel collection I created some time ago, featuring illustrated garments based off of classical works of various literary arts. Inspired by such things like Swan Lake, Carmen, and Shakespeare, my prints have been been featured in a variety of locations, while the garments have been selling online and in select boutiques. The ladies and gents I presented to were fabulously patient with me as I fumbled through how the collection came about and other useless details. The photos have turned out looking awesome!
You are also welcome to watch my presentation below, which a coworker so cleverly captured for future sharing purposes! I hope you at least find it mildly entertaining. Also, a special shout out to my lovely model who was unfairly coerced by me to stand and be present throughout, yay camaraderie!
FYI, you can see the actual prints of the artwork on my website: torynova.com

I’ve had a wonderful influx of spontaneity and creativity (and many other ities) the past few weeks. It all has come paired with a ton of new work, which I would love to start talking about directly, instead of cryptically tweeting about turtles and other aquatic creatures. I can say that it will be a children’s book, and it will be for a certain institution, but for now, mum’s the word!
So this new burst of energy seems to have set me on fire! Thereafter lingers the cinder smelling of potential. Potential for the future, for my own personal projects. I don’t really like doing self portraits because they never quite feel honest, but tonight… tonight, I am content with this, and so, I share!
On a separate note, my mind is filled with Ovid’s Metamorphosis, so perhaps this is why I feel a spark of whimsy. Greco-Roman myths do that to me.

Hope you are having a wonderful summer! July was a great birthday month for me, filled with many unexpected adventures and beautiful spoils. I’ve been taking advantage of the heat and lax days by spending some weekends at the beach. So my beach totes have been playing a crucial role this summer as my go-to bags for any light travel. They’ve been perfect for carrying that extra weight that doesn’t quite fit in a purse – a lady’s ongoing struggle!
I thought I would share some of the artwork I’m using for the fabric on the bags, since it’s crisper and cleaner to admire in this format. The bags are beautiful in their own right. They are made of voile, so light travels through them freely, making them feel air-light but sturdy enough not to disappoint and hold up. I plan to add a few more prints soon, featuring more urban-themes. There are so many projects on my plate right now that it’s hard to keep track. Keep an eye out for more updates!
Special shout-out to Stasia from The Stray Arrow, for modelling for me! Check out her amazing jewelry. It continues to be the subject of my dreams.

News on the TNC front:
Our NEW flowy tee series is up and available for preorder in Torynova Couture’s online store. This group features [starting at the top left]: Midsummer Night’s Dream, Swan Lake, Annabel Lee, and Carmen cropped shirts, printed on a smooth and delicate crepe de chine silk that is matched with an equally gorgeous lace.
Expect a fun and flirty experience when wearing one of these flowy tees. They are perfect for any season to wear over a camisole or sleeved shirt. The artwork is spectacular and as part of TNC’s Wearable Stories Collection, each piece is an interpretation of either a ballet, opera, play, or poem.
Here is an example of a 360 degree look at the Annabel Lee flowy tee, the exact same shirt you saw as a sneak peak in my previous post about the D&D Digital Print Exhibit.
As you could probably tell, I love-love-love wearing these shirts. I’ve been strutting the samples all over the neighborhood [even to NJ-SCBWI] wearing them for any event and with any excuse. They’re fabulous for the summer and can be worn any which way, with a bare back, over a tank, tube top, swimsuit or a simple plain dress. It’s open to the imagination! The best part is that these shirts are so loose that they look great on any figure and come in a one-size fits all model.
If you want to stand out from a crowd and look comfortable or if you truly wish that your clothes stood for something beyond just color and pattern, I suggest you consider Torynova Couture‘s Wearable Stories Collection when redecorating your wardrobe.

So Glenn Beck will soon no longer be with Fox News. I’m sure all the political satirists will be mourning the loss of such a great punching bag. I don’t like to advocate my politics, but I thought he deserved a kind of “tribute” to him and the party he aligns himself with.
